The Minority Business Awards Luncheon, presented by Philander Smith College, celebrates the diversity of the Little Rock Regional business community and will serve as a way to recognize minority business leaders that excel in their field as well as advocates and organizations dedicated to supporting these businesses.

Awards in the following categories will be presented:

Little Rock Regional Emerging Minority Business of the Year - Presented to a new minority-owned business (1-3 years) that is poised for future growth and has carved a niche for itself in the Little Rock Regional business community.

Little Rock Regional Minority Business of the Year - Presented to a minority-owned business that has exceeded industry standards and achieved phenomenal business success leading to significant growth, and job creation, while showing a commitment to social responsibility and strong community involvement in the Little Rock Region.

Little Rock Regional Minority Business Support Organization of the Year - Presented to a support organization or a financial institution in the Little Rock Region that is actively championing and helping pave the way for minority businesses to succeed.

Little Rock Regional Minority Legacy Business of the Year - Presented to a minority-owned business that has been in business for 25 years or longer. It has demonstrated a consistent track record of business health and growth, community involvement, and the collaborative spirit of the Little Rock Regional business environment.

This luncheon will also give attendees the chance to hear from a dynamic keynote speaker who has excelled in the business community. This year, we are excited to announce Ronnie Dedman, President of AT&T Arkansas, as our keynote.

Dedman was announced as president of AT&T Arkansas on June 4, 2018.

Dedman, a Tuckerman native, has worked for AT&T in Arkansas for 40 years, starting as a summer intern for then-Southwestern Bell. He worked as a directory assistance operator while attending college at Arkansas State University. He has worked in the areas of operator services and marketing within the company before joining AT&T’s external affairs team as a director in 1995.

Dedman was the first African-American to hold the position of board chairman of the North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce. He was also appointed by Gov. Mike Huckabee and reappointed by Gov. Mike Beebe to the board of trustees for Pulaski Technical College.

He has served on the board of directors for numerous organizations including Little Rock Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee, Arkansas State University Foundation, Little Rock Boys and Girls Clubs, American Lung Association of Arkansas, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Little Rock Work Force Investment and the Downtown Little Rock Partnership.
